Sustainability at bru.
Sustainability is the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
~ World Commission on Environment and Development
Stainless steel shell: Although stainless steel is energy intensive during production, more than 50% of it is made from remelted scrap metal. This means that less mining for new, raw materials is necessary. Reusing your bru cup for multiple years, ensures that you're making the Earth-friendly choice. If you do one day decide to get rid of your cup, you can take it to your nearest scrap metal facility for it to be melted down and made into something new.
Tritan® lid: After experimenting with different materials, we chose Tritan for the lid because of its extreme strength, durability and heat resistance. Currently it is not readily recyclable however, because it can withstand so much wear and tear, this reduces its carbon footprint over time compared to other lids that have to be replaced several times over the lifetime of the cup.
FSC®: We always try to use FSC® certified packaging for shipping our products. FSC® stands for ‘Forest Stewardship Council®’. They are an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. FSC® certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards.
Reuse & recycling: Reusing is preferred to recycling as it reduces energy use in an item's life-cycle. We re-use packaging whenever possible and encourage our customers to do the same. When you receive a product from us, instead of throwing the packaging away, consider folding it flat and keeping safe until you can re-use it. Anything we can't reuse, we recycle whenever possible and hope our customers do the same. Our cup packaging is 100% recyclable.
Our war on waste.

Our action against global warming.
We are very fortunate that our current company structure and premises allow us to keep our greenhouse gas emissions related to energy use and transport very low.
We are currently in the process of calculating our total estimated carbon footprint and doing a Life Cycle Analysis on our cups. This will highlight where we can reduce our impact on the environment and how we can offset what we can't reduce to become fully CARBON NEUTRAL.
